17/07/2006 International experts to evaluate the tuberculosis situation in the Tomsk region

On the 3rd of July the mission of the WHO arrived in Tomsk. Its purpose was to sum up the results of the activity of international projects on tuberculosis fight on the territory of the region. As IA REGNUM was informed at the press-cutting service of the administration of the Tomsk region, the work of the mission would continue till July, 5. The group of experts representing international organizations consisted of Fabio Scano, Alexey Korobitzin, Kiryl Danishevshky, and also the representative of the Novosibirsky Scientific Research Institute of Tuberculosis.


An interdepartmental working group on tuberculosis fight operates in the Tomsk region. Starting from 1994 the Tomsk specialists work in cooperation with such international organizations as “Merlyn” (the UK), New York Institute of Health (The USA), “Partners in Health” (Boston, the USA), Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.



Upon their arrival the participants of the mission met the Chief of the Department of Healthcare of the regional administration Albert Adamian. They were going to see the regional antituberculosis prophylactic centre, visited central district hospitals and other regional health facilities, met with the representatives of the Federal penitentiary system. The review of the work was to take place on July, 5 in the Department of Healthcare of the region.

17/07/2006 736 ambulance staff of the Vologodkaya region will get additional payments

By June 1st, 736 ambulance workers (102 doctors, 625 medical attendants, 9 nurses) and 446 workers of obstetric points (401 medical attendants, 62 midwives and 3 nurses) are entitled to get additional payments according to the national project.


As IA REGNUM was informed in the Department of Health of the Vologodskaya region, the money for these purposes is allocated from the Federal budget. The list of health workers entitled to additional payments will be renewed monthly. For example, from June 1st, doctors will get 5 000 rubles additionally, medical attendants will get 3500 rubles, nurses – 2500 rubles.

17/07/2006 The vaccine against German measles reached the Vladimirskay region

The first lot of the vaccine against German measles (24 000 doses) came from the Federal centre within the framework of the implementation of the priority national project “Health”, IA REGNUM was informed at the local centre of ROSPOTREBNADZOR. In 2006 it is planned to vaccinate 32 00 people in the region against German measles, in 2007 another 22 000.


At the present moment in some territories of the region children aged 5-17 have been inoculated against German measles. The vaccine came from the stocks for the national calendar of preventive vaccination. In April and May 7594 people selected for additional immunization were inoculated against German measles.


Additional vaccination against German measles is recommended to children aged 5-17, first of all to girls aged14-17 who haven’t had the infection or been inoculated before.


One of the purposes of the priority national project –10 times morbidity reduction of German measles by 2008 and liquidation of the syndrome of congenital German measles. For this purpose it is necessary to vaccinate 15 million people, from this number 5 million people must be vaccinated in 2006.

17/07/2006 Anthrax is discovered in the Orenburg region

A case of anthrax was revealed in the Orenburg village Istemas. It is known that a man got infected from an animal. The diagnosis was confirmed by lab tests. The man was hospitalized.


In the message of the Russian News Service it is mentioned that the village of Istemas is unfortunate concerning anthrax. The spores of the pathogenic organism remain in the soil for decades, and the virus may reappear at any moment, specialists say. In 2004 the infection was revealed in this village. Then the meat appeared in the market of the neighboring town Orsk. 10 people got infected by anthrax.
