The MCH Initiative will reduce maternal and infant morbidity and mortality by improving the effectiveness of selected women and infant services, with special emphasis on reducing repeat abortions and unwanted pregnancies in selected sites.
Tasks
It will also introduce youth-friendly services, increase access to reproductive health information to men in targeted regions, and introduce prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV (PMTCT). A special component of the project will focus on strengthening the Russian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RSOG) to enable it to continue the promotion and provision of MCH innovations beyond USAID assistance.
